Question Fuel fill vent line removal

I'm trying to drop my tank on my 98 4x4. I have every thing removed and disconnected other than the fuel fill and vent line on the rear of the tank. The only thing holding them in are the rubber connectors. I can't get them to move enough to pop out. Any protips on this?

When I did my '97, I had the same trouble. A channel Lock Pliers helped me get the small tube off, but the filler line (3" rubber tube about 6" long), I couldn't get the pliers on it, so I cut it off. Got a replacement hose at the Parts store (Napa).
