Fuel/Gas Gauge not working!!
I recently purchased a 98 s10 blazer 4x4. I had to replace the fuel pump first thing. Due to money issues I ordered a replacement pump through an online dealer. The arrived fast and was an exact factory model new and all. The issue came to the wiring connector it came with. It had the same number of wires as the factory plug but they were different colors. I need a wiring diagram of then factory setup so I can deduce which wire i may have crossed. The pump works great just the level indicator doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I`d like to know how you did the easy fix on the snding unit,Mine all sudden wouldnt go below 3/4 then within 2 weeks it goes all the way past full and pegs out there no matter what.I dropped the tank when it 1st started acting up and cleaned up connectors and bent tabs down etc but no differance.
2nd Issue is when my pump went out i bought Ac delco and 6 months later returned it and got another ac delco then 8 months later threw it at the Ahole at advance since there parts never work and went and bought a delphi from autozone and once again 8 months later had to drop the tank and return it.This time i said screw all this talk about them pumps they suck, even did it 3 times on my brothers 2000 silverado. So got the Airtex and thats been 4 years ago and 94K miles. But the sending unit mounts on differantly then all the others so the 2 i have from all the pumps i went thru wont snap on the airtex housing.
Been driven by doin every 340 miles i fill up,2000 chevy blazer 2 door LS model.Gonna drop the tank and either swap out the control board if possible and if not then i`m just gonna screw the replacement onto the housing, hell both sending units only have 6 and 8 months on them.

hi I replaced the fuel pump, and put in new lines and a new sender/ floater but when I put a few gallons of fuel it will say I have a half a tank up. Then it will drop to e and the light comes on. If I accelerate the fuel gauge will go up, so I'm not sure where the problem lies. So I need a new tank?
I have a 1998 blazer and everytime I put gas in it the hand will move very little but the min I stop it goes back to e and the light low fuel comes on.after sitting over night the blazer don't want to start the next day until I put a gallon or so of gas in it
From your description, it sounds like you're always running your Blazer on the bottom 1/4 of the tank. I've found that with both my Blazer and my Sonoma that they do not like starting when the vehicle has less than a 1/4 tank, especially if parked on a slope. I suspect that if the pump is not fully submerged in fuel it can get air in the line and not build sufficient pressure. I generally look to fill it before or when I get to the 1/4 full mark.
Another note, the fuel pump is cooled by the fuel it sits in, so when you are running on the last 1/4 tank of fuel, the pump may not get ideal cooling and will run warmer. This may shorten the life of the pump.
FYI, it's best practice to post a new question for yourself in the correct section, rather than to post in a 10 year old thread.

As for the tank levels, I found that in my 4-door with an 18 gallon tank, the pump and tank level float are in the very rear of the tank and with the new pump, there is still about 5 gallons left when the fuel gauge reads "E." However, as El_Beautor pointed out, you should never go blow E and if you can, should fill up earlier so that the pump always has enough fuel to keep it immersed to stay cool. Because the pump is not in the middle of the tank on the 4-doors, parking on a slope can greatly affect the apparent level in the tank and how much fuel is near the pump to assist in keeping it cool and keeping it from running dry.
