Oh yeah, I see you are : - )

Thanks for the info. I might brave it this weekend and back the truck up onto ramps. See what's going on.

Better put on a full body condom. When all that snow melts you'll be swimming!

Backed it up onto my ramps and checked those 2 connections. White plug is the fuel pump (disconnected an no start) so the black one must be the sending unit?

Unplugged it and the inside was nice and dry. All 3 wires seem intact. Plugged it back in and still no fuel gauge : - (

The thickers wires are the pump and the thin ones are gauge

The fuel pump module connector has 4 wires: Grey & black, (power and ground) for the fuel pump. Purple and black, (signal and ground) for the fuel level sender. The other connector is for the fuel tank pressure sensor.

Make sure the ignition is in the off position. Disconnect the fuel pump module connector, (4 wires) from the module. Momentarily turn the ignition to the run position, and back to off. The fuel gage should indicate beyond full with the ignition in the run position. Post your results.

I'll have to put it back on ramps tomorrow and try this to confirm but I'm pretty sure when I unhooked the white plug (4 prongs) and then turned the ignition on that the gauge didn't move.

I could be wrong but I believe our fuel gages work on ground resistance. Check the black wire one an ohm meter, it should show less then 5 ohms resistance.

This was on a different gm in the way back machine but I seem to remember wiring a variable resistor in parallel to another ground and being able to dial in a fuel gage to correct it's reading.

20+ years ago so take it for what it's worth, but you might want to google fuel gage tuning or something like

Best of luck!

PS What's a Viking dry suit?

I just finished shoveling...again...so I'll see if I can get the truck back up on ramps.

I have one of those all in one volt meters but for the life of me don't know how to check ohms with it. : - (

My viking dry suit is for SCUBA when I go into cold water: VIKING
