Default fuel level

hey I've got an odd question, I think my fuel level sender may be off but it's always been kinda funky. Even if it says it's bone dry E the most I've ever put in it was about 12-13 gallons. I saw these things have like a 18 gallon tank and it just seems like having 6 gallons left is far from empty.

Did they happen to make a smaller tank for some of these things?

thanks
Bob

The level sender needs to be recalibrated. Quite an involved process, but it can be done. It involves draining the tank using the fuel pump. Drop the tank, remove the fuel pump module, adjust, (bend) the float arm until the dash unit just reads empty with the module installed in the tank. Takes a fair amount of time, and a LOT of patience.
