Default Fuel Pump...

here is the story:

I own a 2000 jimmy; Last weekend we did a 1,500 miles trip and right before getting to our destination we ran out of gas. I tried starting it a few times to try to get a little further, I know that is bad but at the moment...anyway, now we are home and I started to notice that the truck won't start as normal, it sounds exactly how it sounded when out of gas, but after a few tries it would start. This started on wednesday. Today I drove it in the morning and then I didn't started anymore. It is sitting in my garage(luckily). Is there any write-up about fuel pump change?? I think that is what it is, I work 18hrs a day mon-fri so now I have to wait until next saturday to do something to it. Any suggestions?? I'm looking at the AC delco pumps on ebay. Thanks in advance.

I recommend checking the fuel pressure before you change the pump. No sense in changing it if that is not the problem. There are several posts concerning the procedure and several discussing changing the pump.

I changed the fuel filter and it started after a few tries, I hope that it was all that was wrong with it, but at least so far is working fine.
