fuel pump keeps running

fuel pump keeps running
when you turn on the key no start, the fuel pump would run for a few seconds then turn off. i always listen for it. the other day i turned on the key and waited for it to prime and go off but it didnt if you leave the key on no start the pump continues to run never turning off. i cant find any leaks, the intake spider is only 2 months old. i pulled the intake lid anyway to check for leaks and ther were none. it runs perfect. this realy has me stumped. its a 1995 chevy blazer 4x4 4.3 v6. relay somewhere ? i swaped the ones in the glove box no different. thanks for any help walt

RE: fuel pump keeps running
Have you checked the fuel pressure? You need ~51 psi just to start the engine. I can't remember if the '95's have a schraeder valve in the line or not.

Well still no luck finding out what is causing this, I took it to a shop and 4 mechanics looked at it they were not busy so they stood around and threw out ideas. They wanted to check fuel pressure. I already did. They wanted 150.00 to run down the wireing. Thanks rriddle3 for your advise If anything else comes to mind post away.

The fuel pump relay should be on the firewall in the engine compartment. If the relay is not the problem, then maybe it's the oil pressure sending unit.

Ya 4x4willywill thats how mine is. Are you sure the 3 under the hood are for ac. 1995 is a funny year for this truck. I bought a chiltons manual it was sealed at the store I got home to find out it is the most worthless peice of trash ever. I traded the ones in the glove box and it made no difference. Funny thing is I turned the key on with them both out and the fuel pump ran with no relay. Same as before. thanks for the help guys keep the idea"s comming.

Chevy Lover, wouldnt a bad sending unit make the fuel pump stop running. computer thinks no oil shuts it down ? what do you think of the pump running just the same with both relays removed from the glove box? thanks for your help.

RE: fuel pump keeps running
you didnt happen to jump the circuit somewhere did you? if so i would see if you left the pump jumped to where it would stay running when relay was out .
otherwise if no then i would disconnect the fuel pump and check it for corrosion and cuts and what not.
also toss out that chiltons and get a haynes lol ... i have haynes and its been pretty helpful (cept for the second timing mark on the front cover ) lol
btw if you need i can scan some pages out of my haynes for ya and email them to you
