Default Fuel pump question 1999 Blazer ZR2

I think the fuel pump on my car need to be replace but before i order a new one i would like to check the fuel pressure and i also have a couple of questions about the fuel pump.

This might be a couple of stupid questions but i will ask them anyway

When you turn on the ignition the fuel pump start i am sure

But will the fuel pump stay on all the time the ignition is on, or will the fuel pump stop as soon as the fuel pump have built up pressure?

Note that this is when the ignition is turned on

If it is the fuel pump i hear when i turn on and off the ignition i ca hear a little sound for about a couple of seconds

Do you happen to know what the size of the adapter that goes on the valve to check the fuel pressure is?

Thinking of the valve for checking the fuel pressure shown on the picture below

Can you check if the adapter you have has a number on it?

That might help me get the correct adapter
