Default Fuel Pump Test

New to me 1998 Blazer 4dr 4wd. I have a no start condition. I have no fuel pressure at the Schrader valve. Engine cranks but won't start. Iswitched the relays (Horn & Fuel pump)in the main fuse panel underthe hood. Still nothing. I don't hear the pump come on when I switch on the
ignition. Searched the froums and I tried the banging on fuel tank tip, but't that didn't work.
My question is, before I drop the tank and replace the pump, I read about a red wire that I can
hook power to that bypasses the relay and see if the pump comes on. I cannot locate the "red wire"
Can someone please give me and idea where it may be and also did I miss anything before I drop
the fuel tank? Thanks

Default RE: Fuel Pump Test

Bypassing the relay may or may not give you what you expect. Most often, this is a faulty pump, but could be caused by a broken wire to the pump. You really need to pull the electrical connection off of the pump and test the main power/ground leads. If you have power at the pump, then the pump is the problem.

Thanks for the info. If I can get to the connections at the pump I'll check for power.
If not, I'll just replace the pump, as it's probably the original.
