Default Fuel Pump Whizzing noise and not starting

Hello, I have an 01 Blazer that has been making a whizzing or whirring sound for about 8 months drviers side rear. The last 2 sundays the truck has taken several times to crank over and start almost like not getting fuel.

Sometimes before I start the truck and leave the key in the on position, I am usually able to hear that whirring or whizzing sound for about 3 seconds then it stops. If I fully start the truck and drive the sounds stays on while Iam driving.

Does this sound electrical say like a relay or could this be the pump. I am not stalling out or having any problems while driving but I cant start the truck right away until that sound comes back.

Thanks.

Mine made the same noise for about 2 years then one day it left me stranded at the grocery store. I would say change it before it leaves you somewhere but maybe someone else has another opinion.......just my 2 cents worth.

good luck

The noise at key on is not unusual as the system pressurizes, but the starting problem means you should run a fuel pressure test as outlined in this thread.

Should the noise remian on all the time when driving? It has been on all the time for about 8 months.

Some pumps are audible and some are not.

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? Sounds like you may be losing the fuel pump. I would pressure test the pump. If you do change it, do not buy a cheap pump.
