Default Fuel regulator issues?

2000 blazer zr2. Has new pump, filter, wiring harness, will start with starter fluid then die. Was starting and then stalling orig and then wouldn't start whrn shut off if you got it to run. Now won't start at all without starting fuild and then it dies right after it turns over. I believe it is the regulator. This sound correct? How hard is it to change. I saw a few threads using the search feature here and it doesn't look terrible. I can't find exactly all the parts I need to order for the regulator, spider injection eith regulator. Etc. Can't find part numbers.

I've never done it before s it something that isn't terrible to do?

It definitely sounds like a fuel delivery issue. When you say wiring harness do you mean the after market harness that you splice into the factory harness? Maybe you should start there for loose wires or misconnections.

Do you hear the fuel pump turn on?
What kind of fuel pressure do you have?
Try swapping out the fuel pump relay?
Is the fuel filter installed correctly or restricted upstream from fitting?

Yes pump harness is new. No loose wires. Can hear it. New fuel filter. It's loosing pressure after the filter to the intake. It will run when you spray starter fluid, can smell fuel under hood like regulator is leaking. It just did this and the pump is less then 2 months old and has no issues I can find.

For sure a fuel delivery problem. How do you know it's losing pressure after the filter? What is fuel pressure with the key ON and the engine OFF and the pump running? Does it remain above 55psi for 10 minutes after the pump shuts off? There are very few problems with the regulator on CSFI systems, best to diagnose it before throwing parts at it blindly.
