Default Gas Leak

I dropped the gas tank from my 96 blazer, trying to investigate which gas line was leaking.
The gas was blasting out one of the lines somewhereabove the tank.
Of the 3 lines, one goes from the rear of the tank to a plastic fitting at the front of the tank.
The plastic male piece was boken clean off, where the gas line would attatch.

Does anyone know what this line does and if it would be under preasure when the fuel pump fires up ?

I have yet toremove the broken plastic piece from the front of the tank.
The lines are not in perfect condition, but would still have a few years in them.
I would like to think that if I re-attach the gas line to the fron of the tank all my problems will go away.
Am I hoping for to much ?

Thanks
Chris

I'm not sure which line it is that you are talking about or how you can re-attatch a line to a fitting that is broken off. If there is a way to attatch the line securely, that may cure the leak.
