Default Gas Tank Leak

As I was driving last night, I smelt gas. Went to put gas in my truck this morning and as soon as I was shooting it in, gas came pouring out.

Does anyone have a gas tank diagram so I can pinpoint this leak?

Check your fill neck. LMC trucks has a good pic with all the names of the parts.

Kinda sounds like your vent line is kinked or plugged.

It's the rubber hose between the gas tank and filler neck. All of a sudden it's too short. Thinking maybe my gas tank is slowly dropping down. It's a newly installed tank, but the setup is rigged...

Try tightening up your fuel tank straps a bit. If not maybe you can loosen the other side of the filler hose and split the difference to get it on both sides

The tank straps are rigged, I pulled another hose, which is longer. But I don't think tightening the support straps is possible, check it out...

ahh gotcha lol. I ran a "custom" strap like that for a couple months before I tore my blazer apart to build...it held up for 2 months of hard offroading- much to my surprise

Ok I found the problem. My drivers side support bracket, one end towards the engine, the bolt is missing. Causing the gas tank to drop on the filler side, causing the hose to short out.

What size bolt fits that bracket to the body?

Secure it, pull the other bolt, check if it fits the missing as well and with that bolt, off to your ACE store.
