Default Gas tank relocation. Chevy Blazer ZR2

(I'm editing my earlier post to correct a mistake. I said I lowered my gas tank 4 inches but it was only 2 and a half inches. That gave me 4 inches of clearance under the floor pan which would allow for a storage compartment for the jack and tools and guns and what ever) Would like to share with everybody what I did with my Blazer ZR2. I like to modify vehicles and one of the things I am doing now is lowering my gas tank about 2 and a half inches. I got this idea while replacing my fuel pump. After I saw how easy it would be I just had to do it. If anybody is interested in how I did this and what benefits it could provide I would be glad to provide details.

I'm kind of interested in the "why", more so than the "how".

This is a ZR2 and the tank is behind the axle. I'm considering having a under floor storage compartment. The ZR2 has plenty clearance. The tank will not be any lower than the receiver hitch. You won't be able to see the tank without bending down. Nothing could ever come in contact with it. However I plan on having a skid plate under the tank in case the tires throw up something on the highway.

Not for me. I spend too much time off road in some nasty stuff now and then and there is no way I will lower my gas tank 4 inches.

I made a mistake. It was only 2 and a half inches that I lowered the tank.

I corrected my post to say that I lowered the tank only 2 and a half inches.

Funny, I've actually been thinking of raising mine up for more ground clearance, since I have a 2"" body lift.
