I have a 2000 blazer vortex 4.3 the service engine soon light comes on. The code reading is PO101 which is mass air flow or volumeair flow circuit,range or performance problem. Do you need to replace the maf unit or is there something else that can be causing this problem?

 

I would first try cleaning the MAF sensor. You must use a sensor safe carbon cleaner or a MAF specific cleaner (a bit safer) to clean it. I remove the aluminum pieces off either side of the MAF and then spray the elements with the cleaner. They should clean up to a silver, almost white color. If they are tan, they are still dirty. You MUST be careful. Break a wire and the sensor is trash.
