cool

i dont know where the hole exactly is, i know that i can see the dripping coolant from the left side of the chassis under the car, i removed the air filter assembly a couple of weeks ago, but was unable to find the source of the leak, no holes, wet spots, etc - but i can definitely see some drops when i get home from work and can smell that antifreeze smell.

ill pick the stuff up on the way home from work
is there a environmental issue with flushing (do i need to dispose if it correctly at a recycling place) or just let it drain-out?

i know that i will need to get a drain pan to recycle oil anyway
(b/c i need to do an oil change and fix a leak with that, but i believe that its from the radiator oil cooler part)

what sucks is that it looks like places in atlanta do not carry the coolant flush, (autozone, advance auto) so i will have to see if any local places have it.

while i have your attention, question: i swear that i have always had 5W30 and the last time i got an oil change they put in 10w30
is that ok? 3,000 or 5,000 change interval? since i have 108k, should i change to synthetic (do i have to change that as often)?
sorry for the last minute 20 questions.

thanks again

yes theres environmental issues with coolant...it smells/tastes sweet to animals...but kills them. I put in the prestone flush kit so I just use the hose...and when flushing I catch the bulk of the coolant, but the mild dilute that comes out with flushing, I don't capture.. If you're using real coolant flush...you definitely want to capture the coolant and the flush. buckets..lots of buckets... 4 gallon cap. in the system.

As for your leak, do you have any coolant getting thrown around by the fan? Check all the lines down at the bottom of the fan. Mine was leaking at the oil cooler line which is hidden by the upper fan shroud. The only evidence was a leak on the left frame infront of the tire, and the coolant all over the lines by the fan. VERY easy to see with the fan shroud off...but yea..

For your oil, It doesn't really matter all that much if you use 5 or 10w30, it all depends on your climate. I forget which side of the w is the cold viscosity...one of them is thicker

If you can see it drip, get it fixed ASAP. For coolant, I would recommend Zerex. It is as close as you can get to the old type green coolant.

Here is a snip from another thread (too bad it was cut short by the hack):
Dex-Cool is ethylene glycol (EG) coolant just like G-05, old-type green coolant (what Prestone use to make), and new-type green coolant (what Zerex green is which has lower silicate levels than the old Prestone coolant). Japanese coolant is also EG. Prestone did make a propylene glycol (PG) coolant, but it is not all that much better for the environment than EG. PG doesn't work any better than EG or vice versa.

Old-type green and new-type green coolants are EG IAT (inorganic additive technology) coolants. Old-type green had a heavy load of phosphates and silicates. Even if you could find old-type green, I would STRONGLY recommend not using it as a Dex-Cool replacement. Zerex has improved it by using less silicates and increasing its service life to 5 years/100,000 miles (which I call new-type green). The new-type green is an excellent replacement for Dex-Cool.

Dex-Cool is an EG OAT (organic acid technology) coolant. It contains no phosphates and no silicates.

G-05 is an EG HOAT (hybrid organic acid technology) coolant. It is somewhat similar to Dex-Cool but it differs in some of the inhibitors used and that is contains silicates. The silicates make it a hybrid.

Most Japanese coolants are also EG HOAT but use phosphates instead of silicates.

The green Prestone All Makes All Models, the green Wal-Mart SuperTech, and the Peak Global coolants are all formulated EXACTLY like Dex-Cool. The reason they don't advertise as Dex-Cool is to bypass the licensing fees they would have to pay to GM. In order to do this, they are dyed green, gold, and other colors.
If you have a leaking radiator, I would try to find the source of the leak first before attempting a stop leak product. Bars is good stuff, but it has its limits. I would much rather fix it properly (i.e. no leak) than to end up with coolant problems again. Even a small leak can end up dropping the radiator level and allowing the engine to over heat, potentially doing some serious damage. It is your call on whether it is worth it to wait.

any suggestions for oil

whether to stay with standard oil, higher mileage engine, Synthetic Blend, or Full Synthetic?
