I am curious as to where the 9007 harness fits in the equation. I have had 1st and 2ng gen S-series, and the sealed beams always have H4 plugs, whereas the composites have 9005 for DRL/highbeam, and 9006 for lowbeam. I may have missed something, but throughout all subsequent model variations, those are the only 3 headlight types I have encountered. Have you tried adjusting the headlights at all? I do not know exact numbers, but as a GENERAL rule of thumb, turn your headlights on lowbeam and aim them at a wall (the lighter the wall, the better), and your beams should be around and a little below knee-height at ~20 feet.

DOT specs say the top of the beam is supposed to be 2 - 2.5" lower than the headlight at 25' away from a wall.
