hello my brother has a 2001 jimmy. it has been giving him some problems with starting up right away. he says he has to crank it for a while then let it sit he has to repeat two to three times then it will fire. could it be a fuel pump. or cap and rotor. he says it runs ok once started but I know mine had a issue kinda like this and it was the cap and rotor. thank you for any help

Classic symptom of a failing fuel pump. Check fuel pressure and leakdown at the service port. Most auto parts stores rent/loan fuel pressure testers for free, and sell them for around $40. When you have one available, let us know and we can walk you through the steps.
