Default Heater/AC Blower problem.

first i have a 1996 4dr blazer. ive had it for about 2-3 months and havent had any major problems with it yet (knock on wood) and i just realized today my blower is not working. i can feel warm air if i put my hand on the vent but no matter how much i turn it up it will not blow out the air. can this be a fuse issue? i hard wired my radar dector to the radio fuse but i dont think it should have effected the heater/ac fuse which i did try replacing. thanks a lot for any help.

I'm having kinda of the same problem except mine only works on medium high and no other speed. Hopefully will get some answers here. Good Thread!

If it does not work on any of the speeds, it very well could be a fuse issue. If I remember correctly, there is a fuse and relay for high mode only and then there is the blower motor resistor block that controls the lower speeds. Try running a search for "blower motor resistor" and see what turns up.

A 91 will likely be different though.

hey guys,

my a/c blows in all positions but the compressor clutch doesnt engage. i checked the two 10 amp fuses and the relay in the fuse boxes. air comes out but its not cold or warm. i recharged the kit but the compressor didnt kick on when i did it. i was told theres an inline fuse somewhere on the wiring harness under the hood but i cant find it. its not imperative right now. but it would be nice when its regularly 95* here.

thanks for the help guys,
rllamarca

No inline fuse that I know of. But then again, it would help to know exactly what it is you are driving.

You have to have the compressor running (either normally or forced) to recharge the system. You cannot recharge the system properly without the compressor running.

did the clutch kick in at all when you were re-charging it ? so you are saying you tried re-charging and the clutch didn't engage at all ? if that is the issue you may have a power issue but make sure the system is completely empty when you try re-charging, try jumping the low pressure switch off of the filter drier see what that does and report back

If the resistor is bad the blower motor will still work on full speed but not on the lower speeds. Most likely your blower motor burned out or your wireing is faulty.

Im an elecric motor man from way back, and it could be as simple as your blower motor could have a shorted circuit, thus dropping speeds.

it didnt kick in when i was recharging, correct. the fuses and the breaker in both boxes were in tact. where is the low pressure switch? i ordered it and its only 14 dollars so i figured i may as well just replace it.

thanks again,
RLLaMarca

btw, its a 98 blazer, 4 door, 4.3L, LS

The low pressure switch is located in the filter/dryer (large silver canister) on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It can be replaced without discharging the system.
