heater/ac controls not working
#1
Hi all, my wife informed me that the controls that turn on heater, ac and fans isn't working at all. I checked the inside fuses and they all are good. Looking for some direction. Figured one of you guys would know the most common problem concerning this issue. Thanks in advance!
Forgot to mention that it's a '99 4-wd ,V-6.
what does AMPF stand for in the fuse block? It has a 25 A fuse but only one of the sockets is there. So it's not operative.
Well, I have voltage(s) at the blower connector. Different wires depending on what setting the switch is on. so now I need to find out how to get the blower motor out. There is a factory line that shows where to cut if I wanted to get to the resistor but I'm not sure if I want to go there yet.

First off, I must state that your approach to using this forum goes against the rules of the forum. Please read them and abide by them.
I wouldn't worry about the description of circuits which your truck is clearly not equiped with.
The blower motor resistor is a very well documented problem as is actual fan problems. A few good searches should turn up the information you need to diagnose your problem.

Thanks for setting me straight on that. It's frustrating sometimes and I get in a hurry.
Anyhow, I did do a forum search and found an excellent post (with pictures!) on blower motor removal.
I cut the rubber housing on the factory lines, unbolted the motor housing and now have having a heck of a time getting it out! Came in the house to see if there was something I missed but I don't think so. It's almost as if you need to remove the squirrel cage from the motor before it can be taken completely out. Oh well, back to the garage!
Later. Ok, I got it out and re-tested it. Now it works! So what d'ya think I should do? Lube and clean it or replace? Guess it's $30 for motor but I temporarily hooked everything back up and it runs at all speeds. I put some pressure and the shaft and it feels strong. Doesn't spin real freely but it wouldn't with the brushes and all. Decisions, decisions....

It'll come out! If you haven't already, removing the PCM and coolant reservoir opens up a lot more room. If that still isn't enough, then there isn't much more work involved with removing the inner fender (pull the battery and battery tray, then unbolt the inner fender).

I had went back out and did get it out. Had to remove the bolt sticking up from the inner fender-well. It had held the coolant overflow res. in place. One of three.
Like I was saying, I put the motor back in. I tested it about six times. Probably a bad connection or ?. So far so good.
