It does read on the cool side. I'm hoping that when I did my gauges, I put the needle back in the right spot. The needle usually stays around the fourth line. Where should the needle be when I shut the truck off. Anyway, I remember that before I did my gauges too, it read cool. So I might have it right. I'll have to have the thermostat checked out. Where is it, is setting it something I can do or should i have a garage do it. Come to think of it, it might be covered under warranty. I'll have to check the papers.

I bought a metal thermometer that I can put anywhere to read temp. I have actually put a hose clamp on the upper rad hose about an inch above the thermostat and clamped the thermometer in there to read coolant temp. I can also stick it into the air vents inside the truck to read air temp. It's a handy little tool.

My truck was blowing cold air and never really getting hot, and it turned out to be the thermostat. You can take it out and see if it has failed open. But they are right they thermostat should be a 195 deg one if it is an OEM part. The part is only ten dollars and it doesn't take, but about 30 mintues total to switch it out. It helps to have an extension for getting the back bolt off, and you will probably end up unbolting the accelrator cable holder to get better access. I hope the problem is something this simple.
