So what does it do? Details will determine how much assistance you receive. You can read through the Tech Articles on the subject to get ideas on where to start as well as what information to provide.

thanks for the response. It does not make an difference what 4wd button that is pushed flashes for about 45 secs to a minute and returns to 2 wd. I can hear different clickes under passenger side dash boards an under the hood.

Maybe your actuator is not working properly?

3-button (NV233) or 4-button (NV236) switch in the dash? The diagnostic procedures can be quite a bit different. Use the transfer case designation to look through Tech Articles on the specific transfer cases to get things to try as MUCH of the steps to self diagnose 4wd problems are covered in detail in that section.

First thing to do is to inspect and clean all the connections on the TCCM located under the passenger kickpanel. That is the most common cause of problems as the wiring corrodes from moisture.Look for green powdery residue at the pins. The axle engagement vacuum servo is under the battery tray. The TCCM sends the power to the encoder motor on the transfer case.

Inside, right where you'd kick it (front of the door). Mine got wet from people getting in after walking through snow (used to live in Michigan), and had to be replaced. What a silly design.
