Default Hello from Indy

Hello everyone, I live in Indianapolis, IN. Owned my 2001 2 door 4x4 Blazer for 2 years. I have read about and fixed several issues with the help of this forum. I now have an issue that I couldn't find on here so I joined so that I could ask.

I started my Blazer on a cold day and went inside to let it warm up. When I went back out it had stopped running. Would not restart. I noticed that I could not hear the fuel pump when I turned on the ignition.

I checked fuel pump relay. Its good.
I checked fuses including ecm B they are good.
I dropped tank and checked the wires to the pump and had 12.4 volts.

I assumed bad pump so bought new Delphi and put it in.

Now it will not run when I turn key on.

Rechecked and have 12.4 volts to pump.

Question 1. Will the pump try to prime if the tank is dry?
Question 2. If the pump will try to prime dry and has 12.4 volts why is it not coming on?

Please excuse me for posting all of this here and mods please move this thread to the appropriate section

Thanks,
Rick

When you initially turn the ignition to the run position, (do not start the engine) the fuel pump should activate for ~2 seconds and shut off. The grey wire at the fuel pump module connector should show battery voltage only during the 2 second time frame.

Resistance on both black wires from the module connector to chassis ground must be less than 5 ohms at all times.

Post your results.

Running the pump dry can damage the pump and the pump motor. Best to put in a gallon or so of fuel. The fuel lubricates the pump, and cool the pump motor.

Thanks Captain Hook,
I had already checked the thick black wire and it was good( if I remember correctly it was 2 ohms) I will check both and post results asap.

After I shovel all the @#$% snow out from under it.

You've got power and ground at the module connector, if the pump doesn't run, it needs replacement. Delphi pumps can be very quiet, have you checked the fuel filter for restriction? Have you checked fuel pressure at the service port next to the distributor with the ignition in the run position, engine off, fuel pump running?
