Default Help With Front End problem

Hi Guys,

I really don't know much about what this could be but hope some one here could help me out.

My girl friend got two new front tires on her '97 four door blazer today. After work she notices this bar hanging down. We left it in the parking lot just to be safe.

What is that bar and what should we do?

Thanks!!

Looks like the sway bar. If it is, it should stretch across the vehilce(sideways). I can't tell from the picture, but you should be able to rotate it towards the rear of the car and bolt it back up. If you had the tires changed at a shop, that vehicle should never have left.

I agree it looks like the sway bar. It is a log bar that goes from one side of the vehicle to the other. There is a hole in each end. Look at the other side you will see a long bolt with rubber bushings and a metel tube over the bolt as a spacer. They are easy to replace and the auto store sells replacements. Unless the tire place did something stupid my guess is it broke after she left there. The bolts can rust & then break off. You can relpace the broken one in the parking lot. Inspect the other side carefully or just replace it to be sure.

Thanks guys it indeed was the sway bar. the bolts were all rusted out.

I got the new bolts from the parts store today but unsure how to attack them. It has a long bolt with a washer, two plastic things, a washer and the same on the other side with a bolt to screw on. Do these get attached in the middle between the two center metal washers?

Thanks!!
