Checked the sticky first and my issue applies to none of the topics that were listed in the thread. Did a search and found a very broad range of information so I am going to post my question to get a more specific response.

We are dealing with a 2001 Trailblazer

Upon starting, when the key is turned the car will not start sometimes. The problem is very intermittent, the starter will click but the car will NOT start. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Installed a new battery - that's not the problem. Will check all (+) (-) connections from battery to starter and what not today and will update you guys with more information.

Sound like a problem anyones had or anyones dealt with on this forum?

Appreciate the help.

Once started car runs and will not die until shut off. It does not stall

sounds like a starter problem IMO. Possibly going out. Not entirely sure how to check if it is though :P

Do you hear your fuel pump run if you just turn on the ignition but not start the truck?

If you hear a click, but the engine doesn't turn over, the starter is very likely to be the problem.

It's a PITA but you can pull the starter and have it bench tested at most chain auto parts stores. The only problem with bench testing is that i've seen starters test good on a bench but not actually be good. Reason being there isn't any drag on the starter on the bench so it may turn freely when there is a problem that is hidden by the lack of drag.

Was at work all day couldn't hop on a computer but now that i'm finally able to...

thanks for the input guys i really appreciate it

The clicking / no turnover has dissipated and now it doesn't even click anymore.

After reading all of your advice, i'm guessing it's the starter so i'm going to replace this weekend a s a p.

Yes i do hear the fuel pump power up when I turn the key ON also.

Before you pull it out, test the wiring as you were going to just to be sure. Never hurts to check things over good before replacing a part.

bridge the solenoid first
that way you can determine if it is the starter or the solenoid
