Default heres a weird one - Wiper Motor

98 blazer, sometime the wipers will work fine and sometimes not at all. i have a few ways of making them work...

1. turn switch to high - after that it may work on all speeds/may not

2. manualy reach out and start moving the wipers by hand in with the switch in the high position ( this allways works)

3. pull up on the connector by the wiper motor with the switch on high

i have a few thoughts here....maybe a bad contact on the armature of the wiper motor, wiring harness close to the motor is open, loose connector, and i think i read something on here about bad solder joints on the pulse board attached to the motor. what do you guys think? anybody out there with the same problem?

That is up to you. If it were me, I'd at least try to re-flow the solder.

Try and solder it yourself its easy and the worst that can happen is it won't work getting one from a junk yard could cost you more than its worth and you might end up with the same problem. If you can't, or don't want to solder buy a new one they are less than $25.

I had the same problems and purchased a brand new one off ebay for about $20.00. Works great now. Not any good at soldering so didn't bother with that fix.

I had the same problem with a new (replacement) unit I bought from the parts store. Do the soldering solution. It's reasonably easy and very effective. Unfortunately, I'm doing it for the 2nd time. I didn't know, the first time, to resolder the 6 joints on the left for the contacts to the motor unit. So, this time, I resoldering all 11 joints.

im just going to replace the motor beacuse when i went to take the cover off, two of the screws snapped, so i fiqure its easier to replace the motor rather than drilling and tapping new threads for the cover screws. thanks for your help guys!
