Default hood latch 2002 cable? Help

Hey Guys I have attached a picture to show you but basically I have a cable that is broke, we had to cut it to open the hood. Now how do I fix this? I am thinking a junkyard will have the part but do i Just need the cable or the whole latch? I think it was attached to this metal piece so I am thinking it is a whole part correct? I have a 2002 chevy sport 2 door.. thanks!

if I'm not mistaken you can remove the cable from the under hood latch but then must remove the rest of it from the interior as a whole piece

It should just pull out. The rubber boot holding the cable should push out sideways

ok guys here is what I am dealing with you can see the broken cable off on the right end.. This part is not coming off so if I go to the junkyard what would I need and also how do I get this cable off because I won't need this new metal piece right just the cable and latch?

Lay it down, put a screwdriver on the rubber part and hit the handle of the screwdriver with a hammer, it will come off. And get a new cable from an auto parts store

gotcha thanks a lot! And how does the cable connect to the thing that releases the hood? is there any diagrams so I know when I buy the new cable where to put it into. Also I don't need a new latch from the inside right? the cable from the store will attach to the inside lever and to this piece..?

The new cable comes with a lever, look for where the old cable went through the firewall also. The cable will have a piece metal on the end hooks into the bent over piece on the hood latch
