Probably they are talking about the inlet to the air filter housing. If I remember corretly it goes through a hole in the radiator support. Must have been bent over and out of place.

Snorkel thing

Great & thanks. I have been trying to improve my MPG on my 1999, so maybe I have a similar problem. I am working back from a bad ERG valve code now. This sounds like something I should look into.
