Hot weather questions
Hi, I'm from Hermosillo, a mexican city 5 hours away from Tucson Az so we have basically the same weather, maybe even hotter.
So my question have to do with that.
1.- What oil should work best? In summer we hit over 110F in the shade. In plain sunlight it easily goes over 120F. In the winter the lowest we go is around 32F. The truck has over 170K miles and still pulls strong and it doesn't burn oil nor there are leaks.
2.- Tires. I've noticed most people here live in places where you have snow on the winter so that's important to you. Here, we barely have rain! The problem we have is that the sun and heat dries up the rubber in the tires before the tread is gone. Soon I'll have to replace my tires and I'm looking for a basic A/T type that can stand the heat. My candidates right now Toyos OC, Cooper ATR and Grabber AT2. Suggestions?
Thanks!

no idea on the tires. your local tire dealer can help with that.
i would recommend running the 5w30 in a synthetic if you can get it i like royal purple but then all my vehicles run synthetic fluids. last longer and they dont break down as fast as fossil based oils do.

I would recommend a heavier oil say 10W30 or a 10W40 especially if its high mileage and ambient temps are high.
As far as the tires, keep them protected..ie Armour All or some such. All rubber degrades
in the sun. If you don't drive it regularly cover the side walls with a tarp or equivalent.
