How to Change Wiper Arm on 2001 Blazer
Is this easy? Last night my passenger side wiper arm is not working. I think the arm is stripped becasue my driver side works. It was flopping around and got worse as the night went on and now does not move.

If the arm was "flopping" around them finally quit, it certainly sounds like the wiper arm splines have stripped out. The wiper arms are aluminum and they can strip out if the blade gets frozen to the windshield and you flip on the wipers. Doesn't happen that often but it surely can. The arms pop off pretty easily, you may have to pry away a retainer clip that holds it on the drive spline, but its easy with a screwdriver. You should be able to get a replacement arm at the auto parts store or a local boneyard.

Thank you. Getting that plastic cover off first seems like it will be the hardest part. That thing is really on there.

That happened to me. I would check the bolt on the bottom of it. Thats all that needed to be fixed.

Work carefully around the plastic cover. I don't know if they changed the design but there were two plastic "legs" that slide around a guide pin and the legs can snap off (experience speaking). If possible, get the vehicle in a garage and heat the plastic with a blow dryer to soften things up (but not so hot that things get floppy), then grab the plastic cover with your thumb and forefinger near the part that covers the retaining nut and see if you can lift it off by going up and towards the the wiper arm. The plastic cover should release like it was hinged by the two retaining legs. Check the retaining nut, could be loose. If not, then the aluminum splines have stripped and a new arm is called for. Good Luck.
