Default How do you get the brake switch out?

Sorry for the dumb question on my 99 Blazer. I am trying to get the bake switch replaced, and the only way I can see to get it off the brake pedal assembly is to pull if off the mounting pin, but there is some kind of clip on there. I haven't got the faintest idea how it comes off. It will rotate around a bit, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to get it off. It encloses the flat part of the pin, and I've pulled and pried on it, and not gotten it to do anything. Also, if I destroy it, then the switch isn't going to stay on.

Am I missing something obvious here?

the clip is just pressed on there, you can pry it off with a screwdriver, you can get new clips at the parts store if you damage it

I could see how it was on there, but it took a LOT of force to get it off. I sort of bent it, but got it to where it would go back on, even if not quite as securely. Thanks.
