Great, thats good news. Change the races also? what are the "races".

I just went through this on my Rainier. I could not tell a difference in the noise turning either direction, but I could definitely hear it more on the driver side. Removed the driver side hub and sure enough it was the source of the problem. No wobble or even rough running when turned slow, but turn it quickly and it would speak up a bit.
Oh and also I drove the truck today and its the drivers side. When I turn right i hear it, but not when I turn left.

THANKS

Default Bearings

It's got to be your bearings, I just changed mine because of the same reason. It's real easy to put new bearings in. Be sure to pack the new bearings with some good grease and you should be fine

On a 2wd 2001, you have to buy the entire hub assembly.

You have to replace the whole hub assembly.

speterson1011, I am not sure what you have on the front of your truck, but the stock front hubs for your year are also one piece contained, bolted on with three bolts through the steering knuckle and are not rebuild-able or serviceable.

I said this on page 1, the hub is one piece, you have to replace the whole thing. It's also expensive. About $212.00 from GM.
