Hypothetical - Could I swap out just one frame rail?

The frame of my blazer finally has a spot that is rusted through right next to the gas tank. I discovered it when changing fuel pumps (last person used an airtech pump, now a Delphi). I was gonna scrape the scales off but then I went through a little bit with a 5 way. Don’t know how long I’ll keep this thing alive.
I’m looking at options, which aren’t many, but then the question popped into my head: could I go to the junk yard and pull just the offending frame rail? IIRC the back crossmember is welded? Besides that, would there be any other issues?

I used to browse the offers on our national, ebay-like, portal. I have noticed somebody has a complete frame for Blazer for about $130. The offer has a photos included, which You may find helpful:
CHEVROLET BLAZER RAMA POJAZDU (5835812206) - Allegro.pl - Wi?cej ni? aukcje.
I have completely no experience with such a things, but I wonder, if changing all the frame wouldn't be a better (machine welded joints) and easier option to do?
Just my $0.02.

I'd have concerns that if one part of your frame had rusted through then there likely could be other places that have have also rusted quite a bit.
I know we can get quite attached to a particular vehicle but perhaps it would be easier to get a replacement Blazer and turn your current one into a parts truck? Who knows, you might find a no rust, sun-belt, only grandma-driven replacement!

With the salt in Michigan I've seen quite a few repaired frames. Patches of steel welded over bad areas. They're not pretty, but that spot is now the strongest part of the frame when done correctly.

However, personally, I would have doubts. Especially, that the frame is designed to transfer the loads, torsional tensions etc. If some part becomes significantly strengthened, then the tension load would become unbalanced. Of course, a common sense should be kept, if it's just a one, not-so-big, rusty spot it is worth doing so

It can be done but as I say that you also have to contend with keeping every thing square and plumb along with all cross members are riveted in, bolts will not work well to put it back together.
With my toy in my avatar [ 4x4 RX7] I shortened the frame by 10 inches and narrowed it by building a new center section. And it was right on the money when done. However I have the shop, tools and know how too accomplish the task.
It was a good thot tho
