Default I can't make my SES engine light go on, why?

I disconnected the second oxygen sensor after the cat and have been driving around like that for a while but the engine light does not come on? why? then i disconnected the map sensor and drove it for 5 minutes and the engine light came on, howcome it did come on for the map sensor and not the O2 sensor? in the past i also forgot to plug the distributor wire harness back into the distributor after putting the distibutor back in the engine and the engine light did not come on either, why is that?

could be that it needs to reach a certian engine cycle to trip to code. could be that it has to trip multiple times to set the code. maybe your truck is like mine and it just resents to owner....

i think the only "hard one" would be 65+ for like 5 mins, but if the o2 has been off and you are running with no light at all... that sounds wrong as hell.
if you ask me, if with no O2, she is running fine but not tripping a SES, you should just tape off the connector incase you need it later and run that way if it's working, why break it?

what do you mean by 65+ ? MPH in speed? yeah i thought that its weird too. however this is the second O2 sensor after the cat though. maybe the computer really doesnt need it.
yes i did put duct tape over both separted connections to keep dirt out from the 2 conections.
