I just installed
a new fuel injector kit i bought from Amazon and thank goodness all went well. The ole Blazer fired right up, boy was i excited, until i let it come to an idle, it would race up and down the whole time. I found a vacuum leak where the fuel line enters the upper intake. What did i do wrong and how do i solve the problem. Thanks for your help:icon_bump1:

Do you have any pic's of what you found and what you did? What year and what engine? Need more info!

There should be a seal/gasket that holds in pressure there. Its a cheap $5 part and like an hour to replace it. Chances are it was probably damaged when you were working on it.
|
ok
I may have messed the gasket up installing the upper intake, i was thinking it may not went in far enough to seal. Can i reuse the old upper intake gasket as i only ran it for about 5 minutes. BTY this is a 99 4.3 Blazer with 170k mi. 2 wd

yea as long as when you inspect it it appears ok

I just took the time to remove the upper intake, so now i am going to tell on myself, i did not install the gasket on the fuel regulator, lol guess my ole timers disease is really kicking in, anyway it runs great now, thanks for the help

did you say that you installed that updated spider with the injectors not poppets? How was the install and does it run and idle a whole lot better?
|
Yes i installed the updated spider, being it is my second vech i did not get in a hurry to do it but it was very simple, the bracket for the air, the fuel lines at the back of the engine was a hassle, make sure to mark the timing as outlined elsewhere on this site. It runs the best it has in years, i nave not driven enough to check the fuel mileage but it has plenty of power and idles great.

HAHA we all forget that one simple little part!! At least it was easy to solve for you:)

Even though you feel dumb sometimes its always nice to have a nice simple fix
Glad you got er goin :) |
