Default Ignition Cylinder

I have a 2000 4x4 4 door, i went to start it and when i first put the key in it turned some were everything was powered but not to start it. I turned it back so i could get my key out and then i put it back in and it wont go all the way in now. Have one of the Keys in the cylinder fallen or is out of place? What should i do? i don't want to have one key to unlock my car and other to start it. Can the cylinder be repaired if that is the problem? Should i just tear it out and put a new one in? should i get a lock smith to look at it? Any ideas?

The dealership should be able to match up the proper cylinder.

Have you tried lubricating the lock cylinder with some powdered graphite? Just coat the key with it and slide it in/out and repeat.

So i bought the part and went to my car to fix it and i thought to my self i will try one more time with my key. So i slid it in and still the same problem. I started wiggling and pushing on it and it popped in. I got so excited. So i pulled it out and put it back in and it went in fine. So i went and got some powder graphite which is VERY MESSY by the way lol, and got some it and everything is good so far. What happen you think? SO i saved myself some frustration time and money yay.

Could have been a burr on the key that caused a tumbler to get stuck...
