Default Ignition locked won't turn over...please help

I have a 6 cylinder vortec motor in a 96 4x4 blazer that won't turn over. The ignition is locked, it acts as though i'm putting the wrong key in and it won't turn. I've tried turning really hard but its just stuck and i can't figure out why. Can anyone tell me what i need to do or fix. Thanks so much

Try turning your sterring wheel, hold the steering wheel, and then turn the key. If the wheels are turned and the steering wheel is under tension it wont allow the key to turn. You wont be able to turn the wheel, it locks in place as a theft deterent, however there is some play and that play can put too much tension on the locking mechinism the key unlocks. The steering wheel will eitehr go left or right, whichever, turn and hold to release the tension on the key, and turn the key while the tension is off.

The other issue is your security feature. Is your security light on?
