Default Intake Torque Question?

Does anyone know the torque specs and sequence for the lower intake on a 4.3L. In the DIY post from (pilgram) it says to start at 27 in/lbs then 106 in/lbs and finish with 11 Ft/Lbs. The other link that was posted here was to D-TIPS web site they say 89 in/lbs then 106 in/lbs finish with 11 Ft/Lbs. Both very good posts by the way. Just a little conflict between the two. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Lower Intake Manifold Bolt[*]First Pass in Sequence 3N·m (27lbin )[*]Second Pass in Sequence 12N·m (106lbin)[*]Final Pass in Sequence 15N·m (11lbft)[*]Start on the center bolt left, then center right. Work your way side to side and your final bolts tightened will be the end corners of the manifold.

Default RE: Intake Torque Question?

The 1st pass isn't all that crucial of a torque value, it is more about getting everything even for the next pass. the higher the torque value, the more likely to not have everything even. 89inlb isn't all that high so I think either would work. It typically do the initial tightening sequence by feel and work with a torque wrench from there in increments of my choosing to get to the final torque value. The final torque is all that really matters.

If you were to divide the final torque by the number of steps (3 in this case), and use that torque for the 1st pass, double it for the 2nd pass, then final torque value on the final pass, you would still come out right in the end.

And yeah, the numbers that Chevy Lover posted are directly out of the manual I have.
