So I am a newbie here. Just bought a 02 Blazer 2door 4wd. I have a problem that when I shift out of park the dome and courtesy lights stay on. I have to push the dome override button so they go off.
The function as one would expect otherwise. Called 4 different chevy dealers today and non of them have heard of the issue.
Thoughts anyone??

Yes, i have have checked and double checked the doors close. The courtesy lights/interior lights come on as designed when I get in the car. I start the car and they go off as expected. I take the shift lever out of park and all courtesy/interior lights stay on. My rear wiper also does not work, and I read in a thread that a bad switch such as the wiper could cause this to happen.
Anyone have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this? I'm not good with hunting down electrical problems.
Thanks in advance for the help/suggestions.

Sounds like the switch in the tailgate isn't opening up properly when the gate is closed. This would cause your symptoms.

I checked if the doors lock when I shift out of park. The passenger door locks but not the driver side. I manually push the driver side to lock and lights shut off.....awesome!!!!!! Ok blazerpower you are the man!! Now, I guess there is some actuator/switch that is bad with the door lock, and I will do some reasearch on that.
I appreciate all the responses as someone with OCD, it was bugging me to no end.
I only hope I can contribute one day as I learn more about this animal.
Thanks to all.

no problem dude. what generally happens is the actuator is bolted to the striker and the case is plastic on the actuator, so the it breaks free from the stiker. when this happens the actuator cant move like it needs to.
