Default Intermittent Hesitation Issue

I have a 4 door 1998 Chevy Blazer. The last two or three days I have noticed that when I first start my vehicle after it has been sitting overnight it will start fine. Then when I go to accelerate from a stop sign sometimes it will hesitate in the morning. It will happen on some accelerations from a stop but not all. If it is a slow acceleration it will be fine. It seems to hesitate on the fast ones. As I said, this happens just on some accelerations and then when it gets to operating temp it doesn’t happen at all or for the rest of the day. Only when it seems to sit overnight. When I go out in the middle of the day and start my vehicle and go, when the outside temp is warm, I don’t have this problem.

I have a new fuel pump & new fuel filter, thermostat, radiator flush within the last couple of months. Should I throw some fuel injector cleaner in or does anyone experienced this problem what it could be. I am not getting a Service Engine Now code either. Like I said once it gets to operating temp the problem ceases to exist.

Sounds like a moisture problem. has it been particularly wet around your way lately. Moisture (condensation) in the distributor could cause your issues. When was the last time you replaced the plugs and wires, they could be going bad as well.

I just replaced the plugs and wires on my '96 last night (I too was having acceleration shudders in the morning), but that seems to have been resolved with the new plugs and wires. For me, the easiest way to replace the plugs was through the wheel wells. Jack the front, remove the tires and get to the plugs through the wells. pretty simple and almost all area straight shot, except for the middle plug on the drivers side (it's behind the steering shaft). I was able to get a dedicated 5/8 spark plug swivel socket on the plug and using a 12" extension with a breaker bar was able to break the plug free, then I removed the bar, the extension and the socket (cause you can't get the plug out with the socket attached cause it hits the steering shaft) and pushed a 3/8" inch rubber hose over the end of the plug and twisted it out by hand (once it was relatively loose). It was actually easier than sounds, just take your time. Putting them all back was a piece of cake using the rubber hose as a guide, make absolutely sure you are threading them in b y hand first and they seat straight as re-threading plug holes is a bear of a job and is easily avoided if you take your time. Use anti-seize on those threads too.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply.

As far as the weather, no, no more rain than usual. I had a tube up, cap, spark plugs, dist cap, done maybe about 14 months ago. Time for another one? I schedule it for a tune up then.
