Default An Issue or Blessing? - Immediate Start 1998 Blazer LS

My 98 Blazer "Heather" starts almost instantaneously. I'm not used to that with my other vehicles. I soon as I turn the ignition, not even a 1/8 of second goes by and the Blazer is running. There's no cranking. It's just "Boom" on. Every other vehicle I've owned takes a few seconds to crank/turn on. My 2001 F-150 5.4L V8 generally takes 2-3 seconds to turn over. My question is: Is the immediate start a good thing? Im assuming yes, but you all know the platform a lot better. Curious about this one. May end up taking video of it to demonstrate. Never seen anything like it before.

I'm tagging all my threads with "newbie" to help the white belt karate kids. (Wax On/Wax Off)

My 99 starts super fast too. About the only down-side I can see is that it might be easier to accidently leave the starter engaged after it starts?

Yeah, it's pretty common for these trucks. My Sonoma normally starts on the first crank as well.

I have the same thing on 02. Cranks superfast and starts engine split second. A few months back I noticed my engine take "normal crank time" and found out the AC clutch was seized to pulley. This was making the starter spin the engine and AC compressor on a cold start. I deleted the AC compressor temporary and got my nanosecond engine start again.

OMGherd!! Thanks ya'll!! I don't feel so weird about ignition now. Chevy did some good things didn't they? I've had a Saturn, a Dodge. a Ford (still my baby), and a Hyundai. They never, ever fired up so quick. The Geeks in Michigan did it right!!! \

Just wait til I put a F4 Phantom II afterbody/throttle burner kit on the ride (said no one ever. LOL., or they might have, but they have delusions).

I appreciate you all reaching out. I truly do. Thank you!!!

Want to race? Your 99 is so beautiful. Sometime, somehow, we should race. I''m sure you'll beat me hands down , but that's OK.

Yeah we should totally race!! That would be so much fun!! I bet you'd beat me on the 1/4 mile. And that's OK!! Your Blazer is way more babied than mine. I'd love to just get burnt! LOL. Not until the engine removal and the 308 installation with dual turbo and twin supercharger with the 30 gal nitrous engine pack. LMAO. You rock.

We SHOULD do the start time for ignition though. I'm being bold and brash saying I'll beat you by 0.25 seconds. You have to be dashing, even if you're not. I try!! LOL.
