uh huh, you read that right. Here's what happened:
It snowed last night. This morning I started her up and switched on the front defroster. Surprise!! A bunch of snow came blowing out of the defroster vent.
lol, is this common? Anybody know what causes it?
Yes, I cleaned off all the snow before I got in and started her.
Thanks

Is this common? is there something missing or broken allowing this?

It seems like it's pretty uncommon for this to happen, as nobody has chimed in saying it's happened to them.
Plus, I've found absolutely nothing from the searches I've done.
Is there supposed to be a cabin air filter in there some place?

The air inlet for the HVAC system is in the passenger side cowl between the hood and the windshield. It takes just the right kind of snow, temperature, and wind to put the snow into a position where it could be pulled in by the fan. Rain cannot get in because of the twists/turns the air must take to get into the system. It is designed to shed water away from the inlet.
