just wondering if anyone knows if this actually works and reduces the carbon after cleaning it out or would i just be better off buying a new egr valve?

yes it does work I tried to get one from Napa they told me to get it from the dealer

 

It actually works very well. It keeps chunks of carbon out of the egr valve. HELP makes it. Most parts stores will have it in stock, or at least Advance Auto does.
