alright. i have a 96 blazer LT 4door 4wd 4.3 v6. now that my SES light is finally off i want to focus on something that ive noticed for about a couple weeks. whenever i take a left turn, while pulling out of the turn there is a big KLUNK that comes from by the passenger side wheel well. sometimes in the rear, sometimes in the front. i thought maybe it could be something loose but ive checked and i cant see anything wrong. maybe its cause when i take a left all the weight is mostly on the right side of the car and something is shifting??? it only does it on certain turns but i want to get this fixed as soon as possible to make sure im not doing any damage or something.

any ideas are welcome. ill try and get some pictures up of the undercarrage as soon as i can get my hands on a camera.

 

Bad ball joints will make noise like that... and my broken spring shackle makes obnoxious noise

 

is it normal? i thought maybe cause its cold out the metal is hard and something is sticking. but it feels like its hitting the frame cause if i have my arm on the center console i can feel it. also on the steering wheel

If the '96 is designed like the '80's Blazers then the Torsion Bar Isulator is broken.
GM used a Transmission mount to hold the Torsion bars to the frame. Problem is the trani sits on these mounts where the torsion rod wants to Pull up on the mount. The rubber separates from the metal part of this mount.

These can be replaced without taking the load off the Torsion rod. If you jack the Drivers side up real high, it will take the tension off the passenger side Rod so you can change out the mount.
The more I think about it the more I think teh '96 doesn't have this setup.

 

ill jack it up once it gets warmer outside. and less snowy. it hasnt been making the noise lately

 

i looked up the torsion bar in the book and its definatly has a torsion bar. it doesnt give very discriptive ways to take it off. is it the thing that the lower control arms are attached to?
