Default Leaking antifreeze from above oil pan

Hello. Thanks for looking at this! Last night I went to start my truck and let it run. Its a 2000 Gmc Jimmy. I got it started and looked under the truck and antifreeze was leaking. So I got under it and the leaks coming from above the oil pan. When the trucks idling its a slow drip, but when I climbed up in to the motor bay and hit the throttle and looked under it was a steady stream. Any ideas of what it could be?! Any helps appreciated! Thanks travis!

Is it leaking at the front or rear of the engine?

Could it possibly be a lower intake gasket?!

Absolutely! Lower intake manifold gasket leaks are very common on this engine. Especially if the cooling system has not been maintained properly. A pressure test will help locate the leak. If It does in fact need gasket replacement, Felpro MS98002T gasket set will not leak if clean up, installation, tightening sequence, & torque values are followed.

Thanks captain hook! Your the man! Whats it usually cost to replace one? Do you have to pull the engine?

The gasket set on Amazon is ~$62.00 The labor time for an experienced technician is 4.3 hours. If you've never done one, plan on all day If you hire the job done in a shop, multiply your local labor rate by 4.3 and add ~$100 for parts. In my area, the entire job is ~$500.00 (engine does not need to be removed.)

EDIT: If you do the job yourself, you will need an inch pound torque wrench. You will also need to have camshaft retard checked and adjusted after completion. There are threads in the How-to section that explain how to replace the gaskets.

I would bet anything that it is your intake gaskets. I did these a few months ago. It wasn't too bad, but we also had the engine out.
