i was trying to reset the 4wd computer and unhooked the pos bat term, i left it unhooked overnight and now the starter clicks but will not spin. prier to pulling the term off it started fine so i thought before i start pulling everything apart i would ask, "just a note" this was moms truck and she said there was a similar problem when the alt failed and the bat was unhooked to remove it so it could be taken to the parts store, unfortunately she has passed so i cant ask her but my wife seams to remember her mentioning the theftlock .
thank you
Robert

sorry for lack of info 1999 blazer 4.3 vortech

Check the battery charge. It is possible that the battery did not have a good enough charge to it or the battery may be bad.

Have you had it load tested? A cracked plate in a battery can allow it to test out at good voltage with a multimeter, but fail a load test.

no i havent. when i turn the key to ON everything lights up . and volts show strong . at first i thought it was the bat so i put a full charge on it . when i discribed the starter clicks i should have been more spacific .. its not a low bat click, click, click ... is a cylonoid sliding in to place clack . as if its all lining up and waiting for the signal to spin . i have also read that unhooking the bat overnight causes the theft lock to think someone is trying to steal it and i guess u would need a keyfob to override that <i dont have one> others talk about a manual override sequince but no one tells the instructions .. i uess i have to stand on my head, turn the key ,and put my foot in the tailpipe all at the same time ??? dose this sound fimilar .. PS ive also tryed to jump it with another truck

Could be the solenoid being stuck on the starter. Have you tried hitting the solenoid and/or starter with a hammer as someone tries to start the truck?

I had the battery go bad in my 2000 Bravada. Everything would light up properly. Battery showed full charge. When I would turn the key to the start position, it would click once and do nothing more. The positive post was corroded inside the battery. The battery looked fine from the outside, but would not pass a load test. But it would start with a jump.

I have never heard of passlock resets when the battery has been disconnected for any length of time. It is stored in the PCM as a learned parameter and only needs to be relearned if you replace the ignition switch, PCM/VCM, or BCM.

You could try the 30-minute passlock programming that is posted in a number of threads on the board... If it were the passlock system, typically you would not get a click or anything else. It disrupts the signal to the starter all together.

also when passlock fails, they typicly start then stall right away. sounds like starter problem. Did you test for B+ to starter and "S" terminal.
