Hey everyone! I've got a 2001 Chevy Blazer, V6 & I recently noticed an annoying buzzing sound coming from near the gas tank. I usually only hear it when I'm in idle in a parking lot or a drive-thru. Anyone have any idea what it could be? It's VERY loud.

You're probably hearing your fuel pump running. Unless it is ridiculously loud, the noise is normal.

 

Thats what it is the fuel pump. If you turn the key to the on position without turning the engine on it will make the same sound. And right after you turn the vehicle off it will make the same noise. Give it a try and see if that is the same noise.

It is ridicuously loud! Does that mean it's about to go out?

 

How many miles does your truck have? Are you having problemswith poor gas mileage? when was the last time your fuel filter was replaced?

 

My fuel filter was changed about 3 months ago...so I know it's not that.

It seems like there's a power loss...it has less "git up" than my 93 S-10.

 

the fuel filter wont make any noise. its deffinately the fuel pump. it may have an aftermarket fuel pump in it right now. but its normal to have that noise.
