I just installed a fuel pump from Autozone. I worked fine for about four days, until today. My 2000 Blazer will not start. It has good spark and when I shot a bit of starter fluid into the throttle body, it cranked over for a sec. I cheked the PSI, and it was about 38 psi. I'm wondering if it is just a defective fuel pump, or might it be something else like the fule regulator?

 

I hope you got the one with the lifetime warranty.....


Also it could be a voltage problem. One could have worked loose in the last 4 days...Might wanna check voltage at the pump and or cash in that warranty before going after the FPR.

 

Another problems that I had when I put the fuel pump in was connecting the fuel lines to the pump. I had to wait a few days after I had taken the pump off to re-intall the new one. When putting back on the fuel lines, I had a question about the where the fuel lines went onto the pump. The large one was obvious, but the other two smaller one were had to guess. I put them back where they fell into place. One was longer that the other, so I put it in the middle. Like I said, it ran fine for four days. Not sure if this might casue a low pressure reading.

 

Low pressure. Sounds like a defective pump. Does it hold this pressure once the pump shuts off?

 

Yes. The pressure remains constant at 38 psi.
