Default mirror hinge motor

hello professionals,
i have since one year a 2002 LT 4wd aut. trans.
To get into my garage I need the mirrors close to the car.
But now the right mirror is not moving anymore when I push the button to flip the mirrors.
The motor is running all the time and making sounds but the mirror isn't moving.
Is it possible to disassamble the mirror without destroing it?
May be I have to build a bigger garage.
Thank you for your help.

It's very common for the power mirror switch to mess up. mine only goes out and up. But you can move it manually and the mirror will work fine you can pull off the door panel and you will see a plug coming from the mirror area just unplug it.

just in case
to pull off the door panel: under the armrest by the handle there is two 7mm or 8mm screws and one philips head screw by the door **** pull out the front side of the handle bezel first the back side is clipped in and the rest of the door panel is just clipped in just pull on the edges. To save the clips just use a longflat head screw driver to help pull the clips out their cheap but I dont know howhard they are to find in Germany.

if you need help I can send pictures

i think he is talking about the motor that makes them fold in. I have never seen this on blazers before only on the new silverados. It might only be an option in germany.

Yes, the motor that makes them fold in is what I mean.
May be for export models, to make them slim enough to fit our garages
I think the only way to reach the motor is to take off the mirror glas.
But the glas is really god fixed.

ok now I feel retarded but I am jelous I want some

try taking the mirror off maybe the motor is there and if your lucky some thing just came loose since the motor works as for pulling off the glass I broke my entire mirror trying to pull it off but I found out that if you look at the mirror you will see a black lip arround the mirror itself if you are very careful you may be able to pull the mirror out of that lip then you can reach the screws to take it apart. My mirrors were not glued in to that lip at all I just tried to pull the lip with it. but if you can get that mirror out you can take the whole thing apart other wise you would have to break it appart to get inside it. but I have never seen mirrors that flip in like that but the main construction would not differ that much I wouldn't think

I've also got power folding mirrors.
I've also got a problem with the motor which folds them in. Sometimes it folds around to the front of the truck. When set it does not stay there & shifts out slightly. It seems as if there is a strippedgear. I had a brief look & it seems access is available at the hinge but as yet I've not attempted to investigate & even if I stripped the mirror & found the gear is stuffed, I doubt that I'll find spares for it. Least of all here in New Zealand.

Good luck fixing yours OGER. Let us know how you get along.

brokenfish - A 2nd hand mirror here sells for around 400 bucks (NZ) About 200 US. (each) Soif you're interested & have a spare $400 + shippinglaying around, it could be arranged.

The mirrors look exactly like that

from underneath there are 3 torx bolts that fix the hinge.
I screwed them out but after that I only could seperate the moving and fixed part.
The motor is in the upper moving part but I can't reach it from this way, so that dosen't bring me forward.
Tomorrow I will try again to bring out the glas.

Hey Jared, non US Blazers, apart from the LHD / RHD thing have a few suttle differences. So as not to hi-jack this thread, I'll do a new post on my return from Australia at the end of the month. It's interesting.

OGER, I've just been to the Chevy specialists (we don't have any Chevy dealers in New Zealand) on the way home this afternoon. They checked their used parts stock & found a LH mirror with a broken glass (& a bit of the mounting plate was broken) so they gave it to me subject to my doing an autopsy on this thing & how I fix it. As soon as I am back I'll crack it open & see what's what & try do a "how to". It may be relevant to both LHD & RHD. I'll also post this on bf.net as I think the guys there will also be interested.

Good idea, I will take some pics in the next days.
I don't have any from my new Blazer, only from my old one.
Today we had the first snow [:@]

Here in germany chevrolet is getting a comon brand since the last 2 years, but the dealers only sell korean chevrolets.
If you go with a blazer to one of these dealers they will ask "are you sure that your car is a chevrolet?"
[sm=headbang.gif]

Great please make an autopsy with the broken mirror and tell us how to open without destroying it!
