Well i've recently cleaned my MAF and changed the plugs, wires, capNrotor and the check engine light is still coming on. I've been doing some research and im thinking its the EGR valve w/ the problems im having w/ hesitation on acceleration. Also im looking for software to use w/ my laptop to use as a diagnostic tool and what not, any suggestions? I've looked at Hypertechs' power programmer, but it is expensive and i already have a computer, i just need software and a interface w/ my truck.

Yes it could be your EGR valve that would be a good thing to check. Diagnostic software is also going to be pretty costly. http://www.autotap.com is a good diagnostic tool for windows. It will run you about 200 bucks though. I dont know if there is any cheaper software out there or not.

Well, although what I have is pretty expensive, I love it! I have an AutoTap. I purchased the USB version with the enhanced GM data. I primarily work on GM vehicles (90% of my friends and family drive GM). The rest work off of the generic OBD2 data, which is still enough to trouble shoot and repair the newer vehicles. On their website, they have a list of the generic codes as well as what comes in the enhanced data for each make (GM, Ford, & Chrysler). This software is very flexible!

200 bux isnt that much compared to the hypertech which is twice as much retail. can the Autotap software make adjustments or is it a strictly diagnostic/monitoring tool?

Autotap is stricktly monitoring. No adjustments. The Hypertech is extremely limited in what it can adjust and to get more adjustment, I'd go with HPTuners, but that is MUCH MUCH more expensive, but it does allow you to custom tune your PCM to literally whatever you want. Be aware that this isn't for the casual user. You can seriously screw stuff up with the HPTuners suite.

HPTuners Suite is $499 for 2 vehicles to edit (will edit any vehicle of that same year).

I see that currently they don't have the 4.3L on their list of supported vehicles, so I guess that's out, but I have seen that suite in action and it is definitely worth the money if you know what you are doing!

I never thought I would be using my Autotap on anything but my own vehicles. But that was before I moved (from Batavia area) back to my home county. Now, I have all of my family that I can help out with their vehicles as well. You'll find plenty of work to make it worth while, trust me! One of the greatest features of the Autotap is that you can log data for basically as long as your battery has the capacity to keep your laptop on and your harddrive has the space to store the data! I logged a 2 hour trip when I first got it, but I used a power inverter for my laptop to keep it running. Now I have an older Dell Latitude CPi (free from my wife's office) that I use the newer battery from my Dell Inspiron 8200 and it gets 6 hours on one battery (12hrs with both). Makes for plenty of time to log data!

Seneca Falls is in the Finger Lakes just off the north end of Cayuga lake.

Actually, if you are in Buffalo and wanted to do a road trip some weekend, I could show you what Autotap has to offer and possibly look at the problem at hand in your blazer. It's probably a 2.5 hour drive to my place from Buffalo (was only 1hr 10min from our old place just north of Batavia to our new place in SF).

No problem. I'm game whenever you are. Just let me know when and I'll give you directions. I'd probably meet you at the thruway and just have you follow me to my place (easier that way).
