Default multifunction switch repair

I used the pics done on how to get to the multifunction switch. But what I did was remove the panels on the bottom of the dash on the driver's side. I then lowered the steering wheel shaft , leaving the nuts on the ends of the threaded shafts so the wheel stayed connected to the support. This allowed me to get to the switch by removing the covers behind the steering wheel as shown in the pictures. I didn't need to touch any of the dash, instrument panel or anything else. Quicker and with less headaches.

Hope someone else finds this helps.
